What are the benefits of Resveratrol?

Is it true that resveratrol can make you look younger?

Well, it is a fantastic antioxidant that is also good for cardiovascular health, but that’s about it. After all, Resveratrol is Resveratrol no matter which company sells it as long as that company is legit and has good quality.
You can get it from any health food store (GNC, Whole Foods, etc) and many other places, but I would be careful about online ads for it (as the "free trials" are hardly ever free since they have to get you to pay for it somehow) and any spammers who reply to questions like this and tell you to go to their website.

Unfortunately, Resveratrol is one of a few high powered antioxidants that are fads right now and when there is a fad, there are always people and companies that take advantage of that popularity and sell their own piece of it. The unfortunate part is that too many of those people/companies make baseless claims in order to sell their product faster and for higher prices.
It’s best to get a product like this from a company that you know and/or trust. If you’d like, I can also point out a few companies out there if you can’t find any in your local area.

As far as looking younger, that’s a rather speculative claim that many of the spammers make, but there is little (if any) evidence that it does that. I have heard of many claims and theories that free radicals cause visible signs of aging and antioxidants defend against those free radicals, but I have yet to see any proof that free radicals specifically cause the visible signs of aging (especially since those can come from so many sources). I wouldn’t count on it to help you maintain your youth, but there is evidence that daily moisturization helps keep the skin healthy and able to minimize some of those signs of aging. ;-)
Good luck and I hope I helped!

What is the Brand of the Resveratrol Dr. OZ showed on his show today?

On todays episode Dr. Oz, they were talking about Anti-aging Secrets. One of the things they were talking about was Resveratrol. Dr. Oz says that he takes 500mg of Resveratrol and then showed a green capsule. Does anyone know the name of this pill? Thank You

Dr OZ is a quack who is now in love with his Oprah derived celebrity. He is going the root of other MD quacks like Andrew Weil, and becoming a shill for "alternative" products. It’s kind of sad to waste the knowledge and respect that comes with an MD on quackery.

The evidence of miraculous "anti-aging" resveratrol has been grossly exaggerated by its promotors, including Dr Oz who judging by his botoxed face and bleached teeth in recent ads, is desperately trying to deny aging in himself

Question about Vitamins for Medical Expert?

I could use the advice of a medical expert about a vitamin regiment I am considering.

1.1000mg Glucosamine/800mg Chronditin: Joint Health
2.500mg Acetyl-L-Carnite: Heart Health & Anti-Oxidant Effect
3.1000mg HMB: Strength
4.250mg Biotivia resveratrol: Energy & Other Health Benefits
5.100mg Coenzyme- Q10: Antioxidant
6.500mg Quercitin: Energy & Allergies
7.1500mg D-Ribose: Energy

Is this vitamin regiment reasonable for someone in their 20’s, in excellent physical health, and otherwise very healthy? For a person who exercises 6 days per week and eats a nutritious diet (high fiber, high vegetable, lean protein, lot of water)

Do any of the supplements contradict one another? Also, do you have any recommendations on any vitamins that should be added or removed? If so, what scientific evidence do you have to support your claim?

Thanks!

Looks like you have a pretty good idea of what you are doing. At a quick glance nothing looks obviously off target.

I’m 24…is that too young to be taking the Resveratrol supplement?

I know Resveratrol has several benefits, one of them being it reverses/prevents aging. Am I too young to start taking this? Thanks.

No you are never to young.
The sooner, the better.
resveratrol is not addictive or known to be having side effect.
Unhappily it doesn’t reverse the aging.
It’s maybe a preventer causing partial slowing in aging.

What are the benefits of Resveratrol?

I’ll give 10 points to who will give more benefits

There really aren’t any proven benefits as yet. There is some interesting data from red wine, and resveratrol has been isolated as the likely active ingredient. However, it’s only been used in very preliminary lab studies so far, and can’t be recommended for clinical use.
Hillary Hall…the original skepdoc…did a good piece of research on it recently.

Iam 26 female. 5′4 I weigh almost 140 but, I don’t want to lose weight. but I want to look younger and I don’t want to be looking older.

Yes, it’s ok to use resveratrol right now. I’m actually about to start using it and I’m 25. It suppose to have a lot of benefits.

I found a blog that explains which resveratrol supplement is best.

I’ll leave a link to the blog below.

hope this helps…

Why Not a 12-step program for those unfortunate souls suffering from religious addiction?

Granted “RA” is not a common term and I believe that religion, like alcohol, in moderation, is likely to be quite beneficial for many people, in a spiritual/resveratrol sort of way.

Indeed, many people suffering from alcoholism will find considerable benefit from a “higher power”, but it doesn’t typically lead to excess, in which faith appears to turn into a reality-challenged intoxication.

Perhaps RA meetings could be held like AA meetings, in the basement of many churches, right after services.
Would responses be any different had referred to Islamic extremist and referred to meetings after services in Mosques?
Oli- I’ll admit this question appears to have come from a rantaholic. Maybe that is the first step. I should take you up on your offer!
t56- Let us turn the other cheek!
Fireball- that is actually good advise.
Hollie- I agree.
Patio- a very good answer unless your attempting to be a bit silly and/or ironic.
damienbf- "spiritually-challenged" to be politically correct.

BOOHOO IF YOU CANT HANDLE IT THEN JUST DONT GO BACK…IM A CULT survivor….i went right to other churches to check them out…dont worry they wont bite….trll alert

Has anyone worked out using resveratrol ultra and kre alkalyn supplements?

If so, did you see any results from using them?

All I know about this supplement is that it is some what scetchy, it is not that easy to find good or bad reviews on it so that means that its at a neutral status as far as passing the public test. Good job on trying to get a good idea about stuff before using it, I came across this blog that seems to have a good handle on health/diet an fitness that has really good info that may help you achieve your fitness goals. Not sure how it is with supplement reviews but the stuff I read there seems to have good content. (source box)

Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Can u harm yourself with too many supplements?

My husband takes a prescription cholesterol medication and a bunch of supplements, like fish oil, saw palmetto, grapeseed/resveratrol, spirulina, a multi-vitamin, theanine. And he drink a glass of red wine a day and sometimes 3 beers with that occasionally. Is this harmful?

Yes, it is possible to harm yourself with too many supplements, but your husband’s regimen, though slightly excessive, won’t hurt him, so don’t worry about it!
